What is EDD?

EDD, Estimated Due Date, or Estimated date of Delivery, is the projected date of when your baby is likely to arrive.

It’s an essential milestone in pregnancy, helping you and your healthcare provider prepare for the big day.

Typically, EDD is calculated as 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP).

Using the Estimated Due Date Calculator (EDD)

Our easy-to-use due date calculator is designed to estimate your EDD based on the first day of your last period (LMP). This tool gives you an approximate date to look forward to, helping you track your pregnancy journey.

Simply enter you first day of your LMP and the average length of your period and results will appear instantly.

Estimation of Due Date

There are several ways to estimate your due date:

First Day of Last Period (LMP):

Using the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) is the most reliable method for calculating EDD for women with regular menstrual cycles. Simply input your LMP into the calculator to get your expected due date.

Conception Date:

For women who know their ovulation or conception date, this method provides an accurate estimation of the due date by adding 266 days.

Note that this method is most reliable if conception timing is precisely known.

IVF Transfer Date:

If you conceived via in-vitro fertilization (IVF), the EDD is calculated differently based on your embryo transfer date:

Day 3 Embryo Transfer: Add 263 days.
Day 5 Embryo Transfer: Add 261 days.
This ensures an accurate timeline for pregnancies achieved through assisted reproductive techniques.

Our calculator currently uses the LMP method, offering an accurate estimate for most pregnancies.

Can My Due Date Change?

Yes, your due date may change during pregnancy. Factors that could prompt adjustments include:

Ultrasound Scans:

Early ultrasounds provide precise measurements that may refine your due date.

Irregular Menstrual Cycles:

If your cycle length is not the standard 28 days, the EDD may need to be adjusted.

Growth Patterns:

Ongoing monitoring of your baby’s growth may lead to minor adjustments in your timeline.

Remember, your due date is an estimate. Your baby may arrive a little earlier or later than predicted.
